CORNELIUS KOLIG. Paradise

The painter, sculptor, action-, installation- and concept-artist Cornelius Kolig is one of Carinthia’s best known artists whose work time and again has prompted highly controversial reactions. Kolig focuses in his art on the human body and addresses in a variety of ways society’s taboos and obsessions by questioning and, time and again, breaking them.

In 1980, Kolig began to erect on his parental home’s property the "Paradise", a total art work, comprised of building complexes, art objects and the surrounding natural environment. This is where his artistic works are being created and where they are exhibited and stored.

Now, the artist is bringing from the “Paradise” a wide selection of his large metal objects, videos and photographs to the Essl Museum.
