18 April 2007 – 16 September 2007 ANDREA LENARDIN MADDEN/ KASPER KOVITZ - Sunset: DelayedTwo of the first recipients of a Schindler scholarship meet under the title SUNSET: DELAYED: Andrea Lenardin Madden as architect and Kasper Kovitz as fine artist, both of whom live and work in Los Angeles. As a result, the exhibition focuses on the question as to whether the profound American myth of ‘setting out west’ has any relevance today, and how the significance of this myth has changed: “The seemingly inexhaustible potential of the west inspired our forefathers to take over the vast expanse of land in a wasteful manner. Having reached the western border, space has become a rare commodity, while technology strives towards the infinitely small.” For the duration of this exhibition, the MAK Gallery has been turned into a waiting room, and a location for negotiating this theme. Moreover, bringing together an architect and a fine artist for the purposes of collaboration once again examines the relation between art and architecture.AddressMAK - Museum für angewandte Kunst / GegenwartskunstStubenring 5 1010 Wien phone +43 1 71 13 60 http://www.mak.at Opening HoursTuesday 10 a.m. - Midnight, Wednesday-Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., closed on Monday.Description of the Museumseveral branches: Gefechtsturm Arenbergpark: MAK- Gegenwartskunstdepot |
