Upper Belvedere

Ranging from the journey to Paris by the great Austrian painter Tina Blau in 1883, the famous 1903 exhibition of impressionism at the Vienna Secession, through to the painting action by Georges Mathieu in 1959 at the Wiener Theater am Fleischmarkt - with 250 masterpieces by over a hundred artists, the Belvedere is documenting eight decades of intensive cultural exchange between two European capitals.

The museum is situated in the Schloss Belvedere, which was built by Prince Eugen von Savoyen as summer residence. The Belvedere includes two palace buildings: The Upper and the Lower Belvedere.
