MAPAS, COSMOGONÍAS E PUNTOS DE REFERENCIA

The criteria traditionally governing the organisation and structuring of a collection based on technical expertise, artists’ names and even chronological or stylistic criteria have failed in the face of the impulsive confusion of contemporary art and its heterogeneity. This is why any collection that is currently being worked on needs new criteria for it to be organised effectively and to be able to meet the needs and impulses of present-day art in a satisfactory manner. Through the metaphors of maps, plans, cosmogony, reference points and navigational charts which help us get our bearings at night or in stormy weather, this exhibition attempts to broach some of the new criteria that a collection should deal with properly to be able to serve the present.
