Art at the Dawn of a New Era. Painting, Graphics, Sculpture and Photography around 1900

During the last decades of the 19th and the first decades of the 20th century the course was set for a new society and for the development of new art forms. On the one hand traditional pictorial schemata were continued well into the Secessionist period, and on the other hand new revolutionary pictorial concepts were introduced already before the turn of the 20th century.
Photography gradually starts to play a role, and its image findings remain in effect well into the 1930s - in studio photography, landscape photography and in the fictional genre.

Description of the Museum

The Museum der Moderne has two buildings: The Rupertinum in the old part of the city and the Museum der Moderne on the Mönchsberg.
