17 October 2008 – 11 January 2009 munich unlimited - munich editions from beuys to richter 1967–2007from the middle of the 19th century to the end of the 1920s, munich was considered to be a platform for avant-garde art. then, through the national socialist regime, modern art experienced a disruption of almost 30 years. only from the beginning of the 1960s art gathered its strength and at the end of that century the avant-garde movement had once again gained ground through the establishment of bold art galleries. since the beginning of the 1970s munich, next to new york and london, takes the lead in producing special editions and prints.the exhibition 'munich unlimited' shows works produced by munich galleries and distributed from the 1960s to today – rare works by international and german artists, created for galleries such as heiner friedrich, sabine knust, fred jahn, schellmann & klüser a.o. or for publishers maximilian and schellmann. for example, works by georg baselitz, joseph beuys, marcel broodthaers, dan flavin, richard hamilton, hermann nitsch, blinky palermo, gerhard richter and fred sandback will be presented.
