11 October 2007 – 13 January 2008 ARCHITECTURE, PEOPLE AND RESOURCESBaumschlager – Eberle | 2002-2007Since its founding in 1985, the architectural studio of Baumschlager-Eberle in Lochau/Vorarlberg has realised well over 300 construction projects and building studies. In doing so, it has received international acclaim. Major projects such as the extension of the airport in Vienna, the high-rise buildings of »MOMA« in Beijing, the WHO/UNAIDS-Headquarters in Geneva and the 1000-bed hospital in Kortrijk/Belgium are all representative of recent work. The quintessential feature of the work of Baumschlager - Eberle is seeing architecture as a holistic task, the complexity of which is not fulfilled until a building meets all the requirements of constructive intelligence, ecology, feasibility and social acceptance. In the exhibition »Architecture, People and Resources« this is addressed in three separate parts: Part 1 »Architecture« presents 18 projects by the Baumschlager-Eberle studio based on documentation in the form of photos, plans, texts and models. Part 2 »People« illuminates the practical aspects of some of the selected buildings and investigates the question of their social acceptance. Part 3 »Resources« assesses all the presented buildings on the criteria of ecology, feasibility and sustainability.
