The Factory and its works, a treasure to discover

The Royal Tapestry Factory houses a magnificent collection of tapestries, rugs, coats of arms and pattern cards from the 16th to 20th century.
In addition to its works, visitors to the Factory have the opportunity, unique in Spain, to see how the craftsmen weave the tapestries and rugs or create coats of arms.

Description of the Museum

The Royal Tapestry Factory was founded in 1721 by King Phillip V, following the model of royal workshops established in France starting at the beginning of the 17th century. Throughout its almost three hundred years of life, The Factory has passed through many historical changes up until now, in which the new legal statues for private foundations of cultural interest guarantee the fulfillment of its social goals and the maintenance of its rich heritage.
