alpha 2000 - Art Award "Europe's Future"

As part of their contribution to the “Carte Blanche” programme, managing directors of alpha 2000 Matthias Brühl and Dietmar Schulz will present the results of a five-year commitment to the support of artists from Eastern Europe. The exhibition will showcase works by the five prize-winners of the “Europe’s Future” art prize: Kristina Leko (Croatia), Rafal Bujnowski (Poland), Jakup Ferri (Kosovo), Ioana Nemes (Romania) and Kamen Stoyanov (Bulgaria).
The “Europe’s Future” art prize was launched in 2003 with the aim of acknowledging the artistic achievements of young artists from post-Communist countries and of fostering understanding, cooperation and integration within Europe. Thanks to its patrons, this art prize has become a model example of a connection between art and private support that goes beyond mere financial assistance. Over the years, the art prize, worth 5,000 euros, has become an important award in the field of contemporary art; it is not tied to a particular art project or the purchase of a work of art but rather is intended to encourage young artists to continue their artistic endeavours.
