*Freundliche Feinde/Friendly enemies*

The introductory exhibition will be structured around certain key terms. For the course of the two-year project, previously published texts dealing with the same key terms are collated and posted on the internet. In this way, relevant topics are not only found on the Web but are linked to other related texts too. The same principle is then applied to the exhibition. Terms and names will be brought together that initially seem to be worlds apart: ‘Fondazione Prada’ beside ‘Guggenheim’ and ‘Enron’; ‘Museum corporation’ beside ‘foundation’, ‘donations’; ‘funding’ and ‘patronage’ appear side by side with ‘sponsorship’, ‘New Public Management’, ‘economy’ and ‘criticism’. Such juxtapositions reveal the links between business and art in a way that which makes them less coincidental than the selection process at first suggests. Between 20 and 25 terms and names will then be selected from this list for the exhibition itself, such as ‘capital’, ‘Tobias Rehberger’, ‘New Public Management’ or ‘Cultural Committee of German Business’, and will subsequently be related to works of art that have a direct connection with the nine participants in the 2008/2009 programme. In this context, we will present, for example, “Das Capital Alice im Wunderland” by Rosemarie Trockel and “Window #1” by Tobias Rehberger from the Schmidt Collection; Andreas Gursky’s “Hauptversammlung (Regierung der Welt durch das Kapital)” from the Oetker Collection will be exhibited under the heading ‘New Public Management’ and in the section ‘Cultural Committee of German Business’ we will show works from our own collection that were donated to us by the Cultural Committee at the end of 2006.
