*Kay Bachmann – Sachsen LB Scholarship Exhibition 2006*

The exhibition of the winner of the Sachsen LB scholarship Kay Bachmann will open on October 19^th , 2007. The Sachsen LB project grant has been awarded annually since 1998. Previous winners include Regine Müller-Waldeck (2006) and Tina Schulz (2005). The decision to award the grant to graphic/system designer Bachmann marks a turning point as it is the first time that someone from the applied arts has won the scholarship.

Kay Bachmann has been studying at the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig since 1999 and spent a semester in Italy in 2004. The challenge of understanding the language inspired him to design a book to aid those interested in learning Italian. To this end, he redesigned the layout of the novel “Io non ho paura” (“I have no fear”) by Niccolò Ammaniti to supplement his language teaching.
