Description of the Museum

At Ambras Castle, situated above Innsbruck in Tyrol, you can immerse yourself in the life and passion about collecting of the Renaissance duke Archduke Ferdinand II. (1529-1595): Discover his collection of arts and curiosities, his armouries or his antiquary. Admire the Habsburg portrait gallery with paintings from Albrecht III. (1349-1395) to Emperor Franz I. (1768-1835) by Lukas Cranach, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Peter Paul Rubens, Anton van Dyck and Diego Velásquez.
