The Sprengel Museum Hannover, the Kunstverein Hannover and the kestnergesellschaft are jointly planning a noteworthy overview exhibition of current contemporary art entitled Made in Germany. The exhibition endeavors at considering recent artistic production in Germany in terms of its broad internationalism using the example of 50 predominately younger positions without limiting itself to a purely national context or to a specific media.
The title Made in Germany is to be understood programmatically insofar as it no longer primarily relates artistic identity to the birthplaces or the biographies of the artists, but rather to the places where their works are created. Against this background, Made in Germany is conceived as a project that will comprehensively depict artistic production in Germany as an interdependent system of national specifics and the ensuing cultural exchange for the first time.
