30 April 2008 – 29 March 2009 An armchair in the Palais EynardA close look at a Restoration period armchair that was part of a group of seats used to furnish the salon of this historic building in Geneva. Located in the Parc des Bastions, it was built between 1817 and 1820 as a place of residence for the financier and philhellene Jean-Gabriel Eynard and his wife Anna Lullin-de Châteauvieux. This is the occasion to examine the chair’s construction, situate it within its historical context and understand its role in the original interior decoration of this luxurious dwelling, thanks to the watercolours by Alexandre Calame that were commissioned by the owner between 1833 and 1836.AddressMaison TavelRue du Puits-Saint-Pierre 6 1204 Genève phone +41 22 418 37 00 http://www.ville-ge.ch/musinfo/mahg/musee/tavel/tavel.html Opening HoursDaily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., closed on Monday.Description of the Museum |
