Natascha Sadr Haghighian: ''Fruit of One's Labour''

The solo exhibition of the artist Natascha Sadr Haghighian (*1967, Tehran) constitutes a project that the artist will develop specifically for the Frankfurter Kunstverein. Her starting point will be to establish a discussion around the structure of citizen associations or „Bürgervereine“ and the Kunstverein in particular. Natascha Sadr Haghighian describes her work as a continuous process of research, re-questioning and manoeuvring, which she articulates through different media such as video, dia projections, short films, website presentations, photography and events. In her contribution to Manifesta / Frankfurt 'Present But Not Yet Active' (2002) for example, she invited the curatorial team to Frankfurt Zoo to discuss questions of authenticity and visibility in contemporary curatorial practice, using the creation of a new tiger enclosure as an example.

Description of the Museum

The Frankfurter Kunstverein is a major national and international institution for contemporary art in Germany.
The Frankfurter Kunstverein is an art centre. Its main goal is to present the viewer with coherently researched exhibitions that are embedded in the
present. Our work is mainly based in the development and production of new art works and projects. Hence our aim is to encourage a critical discussion around “contemporary art pro-duction” and we stress the importance of
regularly organizing artist talks, debates and lectures in order to create an access point to art and its reasons.
