Goya and Picasso - Bullfight

On the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Friends of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Museum Ludwig the Wallraf is bringing together the bullfighting cycles by Goya and Picasso within the framework of its “Tierschau” (animal show) exhibition for the first time in Cologne. As Spaniards the two Titans of modern art in the 19th and 20th centuries identified closely with bullfighting and took up the phenomenon of the “corrida” as a theme inspired by the literary model “La Tauromaquia” (the art of bullfighting).

Description of the Museum

The museum is one of the big classical galleries in Germany. Focusses of the collection are the departments of the Middle Ages, the Baroque (among others Rubens and Rembrandt) and the 19. century.
