20 September 2008 – 16 November 2008 NEDKO SOLAKOV - EMOTIONSNedko Solakovs wide-ranging and outgoing work, which is hard to keep in bounds, is thematically a singular assault on the desire for perfection, finality and clarity. Starting from his studies of wall painting at the art academy in Sofia, this Bulgarian artist, born in 1957, has developed an oeuvre over the past 25 years that is as humorous as it is playful, as stinging as it is melancholy, and which calls in question the authenticity of each and every system of representation. Ever since his exhibitions at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw (2000), the New York PS1 (2001), the Rooseum in Malmö and the Reina Sofia in Madrid (2003) and, at the latest, since his contributions to the Venice Biennale and documenta 12 (2007), Solakov occupies several of the central positions within current European art. The Kunstmuseum Bonn is now dedicating to this important work the first large, institutional survey in Germany that includes examples from the end of the 1980s to 2007, combined with pieces that have been created specifically for this presentation.AddressKunstmuseum BonnFriedrich-Ebert-Allee 2 53113 Bonn phone +49 228 77 62 60 http://www.bonn.de/kunstmuseum Opening HoursTuesday-Sunday 11 a.m. -6 p.m., Wednesday till 9 p.m., closed on Monday.Description of the MuseumThe permanent collection has for a long time concentrated on acquiring works from the field of German art.
