Description of the Museum

Two Museums under one roof
The superlative collection in the romantic castle-like museum building facing Bern’s Old Town leads the visitor on a journey from the Stone Age to the 20th century. A new and important focus of the collection has now been added: Albert Einstein. The Special Exhibition in Bern’s Historisches Museum marking the centenary of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity in 2005/2006 proved a smash hit, exceeding all expectations and attracting some 350,000 visitors. Reason enough for the Museum to present the show in concentrated form as a permanent exhibit under the name “Einstein Museum”.
